Full Gentle Wash

Here at Perfect Shine of Jax, we know the end results always start with a proper and thorough wash job. It’s vitally important to get a vehicle as clean as possible before any other step is performed. Other shops do a quickie wash, which leaves a lot of dirt on the car that later will cause problems with other steps. Our work ethic and conscience simply will not let us do a quickie wash. Instead, we always use a pH-balanced car wash shampoo, which is safe for both prep washes and maintenance washes after the detail job.

Clay Bar Service

Clay bars were the best thing back in the 1980s, the problem with clay bars is the clay itself traps and holds the contamination being removed off of your vehicles paint and glass. This means ANYONE or more specifically, any detailer or detail shop still using this antiquated product is likely scratching your vehicle due to the contamination in the clay, as they remove the contamination of your vehicles’ finish.

Here at Perfect Shine of Jax, we use modern, synthetic versions of old-fashioned detailing clay bars, which will do the same function as old school detailing clay but because you can wash and clean off the surface, there’s never any build-up of contamination and thus never any risk for instilling swirls and scratches into your vehicle’s finish during the claying process.

It costs more to use a premium brand synthetic clay mitt versus the cheap forms of detailing clay available from all types of economy providers of detailing supplies, but like all the steps we perform, we treat your vehicles like it’s our own and this means zero shortcuts.

Water Spot Removal

I’ve lived in Jacksonville and/or the surrounding areas all my life and I know for a fact and from real-world experience, that water spots are a HUGE problem. Anytime you drive your car in the rain, (and it rains a around here year-around), or wash your car, be it a traditional wash job with a garden hose, wash bucket and wash mitt or take it through any type of car wash service, your vehicles’ exterior is exposed to hard water, which leads to hard water spots.

Here at Perfect Shine of Jax, we use the Fireball Water Spot Remover. This is a 100% safe and gentle spray-on product that chemically dissolves built-up hard water spots without the use or need for antiquated abrasives. Thus we’re able to remove the water spots of every surface on the outside of your vehicle, things like glass, paint, and plastic, without causing corrosion or deterioration of these surfaces.

Machine Polishing

Back in the old days, like the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and even into the 1980s, auto manufacturers were still using old school, solvent-evaporation paints like single stage lacquers and single stage enamels. These old technology paints were softer than modern day basecoat/clearcoat paint systems, and this mean you could do the paint correction steps by hand if you couldn’t afford a polisher back then.

Modern clearcoats offer better protection and durability compared to old school single stage paints and part of the reason modern clearcoats offer better protection and durability is because the clearcoat layer of paint is harder than old fashioned lacquer and enamel paint system. This hardness factor means it’s really impractical to actually do any meaningful paint correction by hand, especially when it comes to removing swirls and scratches to an entire exterior of cars, trucks, vans and suvs.

Here at Perfect Shine of Jax, we always use the right tool for the job, be it a rotary polisher for major paint or gelcoat correction, (boats are gelcoat and we do a LOT of boat detailing here at Perfect Shine of Jax), or dual action polishers for light paint correction or polishing after using a rotary polisher. This means we can remove the defects out of ANYHING while leaving behind a 100% swirl-free, show car finish.
